So many posts I've seen lately seem to be about this new mesh head. Truthfully? I haven't even looked at it yet *grins* but I'm sure curiosity will get the better of me and I will eventually...
Today, however, I am going to talk about two fundraisers coming up that literally, are all about the head. Each of these women has their own special story. Each shows an incredible amount of strength. And each one needs our help.
Please be sure to read on about both events.
This first one, Unhinged, is for a lady that I unfortunately do not have the privilege of knowing personally, but as a person who suffers from multiple illnesses myself, her story hit home for me. The long and short of it (you can read the full story here: Unhinged SL ) is that this lovely woman, Eku Zhong is in need of a bone replacement in her skull which had weakened due to her multiple illnesses, surgery and treatment of bone cancer. In order to do it, she is also in need of a prosthesis. This is most certainly a matter of life and death.. As explained on the blog:
"The area where her zygotic arch meets the temporal bone is severely compromised. Literally there is a risk that her zygotic arch could lift off the temporal arch and push the temporal bone into her brain. Actions as simple as chewing hard food or yawning the wrong way could cause this. There is hope. Another surgery could correct this issue, but it requires the purchase of a prosthesis to replace the damaged bone."
From Nov 15 to Dec 15 there will be a fun filled Gacha Skull Festival going on with 75% of the profits going to this lovely lady. Not only will there be the Gacha's which we all love, but tons of events and entertainment.. Be sure to head out and lend your support and have a great time in the process!
This next event, coming Dec 15 through 31 is for another wonderful lady that I do know personally. Though we have only been friends a short time, I had been shopping in her store long before I ever met its lovely creator. Sway Dench is a wonderfully talented designer, making amazing household items and whimsical trinkets and knick knacks that go into making our SL houses homes. But above and beyond that, Sway is a genuinely NICE person. Sweet and kind, with a great sense of humor as well she is definitely someone I am proud to call friend. I know she is adored by many and that is very evident in this event that is being planned. Our dear friend is going to have to have surgery in 6-8 weeks on her brain. A benign tumor was found that must be removed and she will be out of commission for up to 6 months and with that will lose her only source of income, from her store in SL. We, her friends, want to help make that time less worrisome for her. Her concentration should be upon healing herself, not worry about where money comes for food and other necessities and this is where we can help. You can read more about it at Together for Sway and also see a list of designers already working on this project.. Again, its all about the head, and making Sway's recovery that much easier (she certainly wont need an added HEADache right?)
I will say, these are the kinds of things that happen that warm my heart, the community coming together to help those truly in need... whether they want us to or not! =P
Last but certainly not least, lets take a trip in our heads!!
This next event from The Ego Co. is sure to be a blast and a way for many of us to go
(link to blog) Around the World , even if only in our minds =) Be sure to check out the blog for a list of designers for this event that starts Nov 15th and runs through Nov 29th. I can't wait! Chance might not realize he is taking me on a vacation, but you can be sure you will see more posts and photos from us as we enjoy our trip around the world!
Til later times
